TRANSIT CUSTOM MK2 2023-
ROOF RAILS & ROOF BARS
Looking for a roof
styling accessory to fill the bare space on the top, or
maybe you’re looking to expand your storage
capabilities, roof rails and cross bars are the ideal
solution!
Roof rails run from the front of the
van to the rear, which can give great styling accents,
especially on a van like the new Transit Custom, which
has quite a bare roof line. Here at Vanstyle we’ve
designed two colour options that compliment all colours
of van and style, a satin black and a bare silver
aluminium. The colour you choose might depend on the
wheel colour you run, or what other styling accessories
you have fitted, but both look fantastic and are a doddle
to fit.
If you’re after more substance than
style, roof rails can be utilised to hold cross bars, great
for attaching roof accessories to, a styling feature, or
maybe even additional storage like roof boxes or
ladders, all of the above will need some consideration as
to how many crossbars you need, especially if you have
a long wheelbase, you’re likely to want a set of four
cross bars instead of two.
Our cross bars
simple clamp firmly around the rail body but can be
adjusted to sit anywhere along the length, so you can
dial in the look and fit depending on what you’ll be using
them for.
If you’re after a practical, functional
and high-quality fitment, Thule is renowned for
providing great touring accessories such as roof bar
sets, and are well known for a durable and trouble free
set up. They have a few different styles depending on
your needs, whether you want to incorporate a t-track
system for other Thule accessories, and even a noise
consideration.
The profile of a roof bar will
determine how much it resonates and how the wind
whistles past it, meaning with a more aerodynamic roof
bar, you’ll get less noise in the cabin. If you cover lots of
miles, unless you’re certain on spending as little as
possible, it’s worth checking out the more streamline
Thule WingBar Evo. With a teardrop profile, Thule have
designed this to slip through the air to reduce drag and
noise. It still uses the famous t-track system, which is
covered by a rubber dampened strip, to stop wind
ingress in the channel, helping reduce the whistling
effect.
Thule’s roof bar sets are also available
in packs of 2 and 4 bars, depending on what you need,
and are ready to fit other accessories to, such as the
Thule Caprock roof rack, or various Thule cycle carriers
and roof boxes, ideal for reducing the amount of storage
taken up inside the cabin area!
FAQ:
Q:
Do I need roof rails to fit crossbars?
A: For
traditional cross bars, you need to have somewhere to
clamp them to, which is where roof rails are used. If you
choose a Thule roof bar set, they use a fix point system,
attaching directly to the roof without the need of any
rails.
Q: What security is there to stop my
roof bars being removed?
A: Thule do utilise
lockable caps, this stops access to the fixpoint feet,
helping prevent any opportunists out there.
Q: How much weight can I put on my vans roof?
A: Each vehicle will have a different weight rating,
but also every product will be made to withstand
different weights. Make sure that you don’t go over the
lowest limit to be on the safe side!
